Default RX 65 Pro, blink at power cord but no power up

Hello all, I am new to this forum as my RX65 has been working great for a few years now but yesterday it stopped. Now when I plug it in it just blinks once (the red and green LED's on the plug) and thats it. Is there some sort of fuse on them that I cant find? I have taken it all apart and do not see any. This detector has been great for me so far and has survived a MAJOR car accident with only some cosmetic damage and has been working great since. Thanks for any help, I would love to keep this unit as it has been through a lot with me.
here is a pic, you can see the unit on the hood!!!

There is a remote chance that the firmware could be hosed. Try holding down the two program buttons and then plug it in. This will force a factory reset by reloading all of the factory default settings from the non-volatile flash memory. Its worth a shot, but it is a long shot since I give it pretty low odds of resolving the problem. If it does work, then please remember to post here that it worked.

By the way, there is a fuse inside the SmartCord on the circuit board. It is a small light green colored capsule looking thing. It is not this fuse since the SmartCord LEDs wouldn't briefly flash when you plug the SmartCord into your RD.

Woo Woo!!! it worked!!! I dont know what I did...i just kept holding down buttons while plugging it in and out and it worked!!! (I didnt know the program buttons) Thanks a lot....I cant believe this radar detector still works, it survived that accident and dosent have the cover that goes on the front display anymore and the bottom is loose but it works again!! I'll try to be careful with it from now on. After the accident i lost the clip for the window with the suction cups and Bel sent me another one for free, so all in all I have been very happy with it. It has saved me many many times.....

I am glad that it worked. You have to post pictures of what your RD looks like after the accident!

Here are some pics I just took of it. Before there was not any electrical tape there and the bottom peice was loose but after this whole mess I figured i should try to keep it together and keep any dirt/dust out of there.

Eeek! I am amazed that it still works. It definitely could use a new case. Be sure to have Bel's tech put a new solder bead on the LO board where the horn's ridge grounds out to the microstrip on the LO board. Also have them double check that all solder pads for the four push button switches are not cracked. Other than these things and the new high temp speaker, with a new case your RX-65 should be good to go!

Come to think of it, somewhere around here in one of my boxes I am pretty sure that I have a display model RX-65 that I bought off of eBay. I will dig around and see if I still actually have this. If so then I can install your RX-65 electronics into it for cheap -- and double-check and fix any of the mentioned solder connections too. Let me know if you are interested.

well it has been about a year and on a trip over alligator alley the detector dropped off of the holder and fell 3-4" and then it did the same thing it did before with not turning on... I researched the internet and found my oldpost here, tried the reset buttons again and it worked AGAIN!!! woo hoo!!

LMAO. I'd definitely keep that thing. Clearly, you 2 have gone through a lot. Even if you get another detector in the future, put that sucker in a glass case or something.

My dad's V965 is still going strong after going through an accident, as well. These thing are pretty tough.

    Post repped.

well its been a couple weeks and now im getting the dreaded 'service required' message.... would like to try to get it going again on my own as i just moved and do not have any paychecks coming in yet, hopefully i will find a job soon... so a DIY fix would be a big help.... i found one thread about adjusting it yourself at a gas station... probably not the best way but i cant afford to do much else right now

ok, i took read about adjusting the potentiometer and took it all apart and made a small adjustment put it all carefully back together and it still flashes the 'service required'..... any way to get it to stop showing this message? my car is not that fast so i dont really care as much as i used to about the radar detection of my radar detector..... i have it set up as my voltage gauge...
