Default What's the diffrence in Bel 995 and Cobra xrs 9930

Hi to ya all, I'm interested in buying a Bel Vector 995,currently I have a Cobra XRS 9930, do you recomend me to buy a Bel 995 unit?

    # What are the pro vs cons between those 2? Which one is the most prefferable?

    # Does the Bell 995 work good in Europe? I live in Denmark.

    # Why does the Bell unit lack the SPECTRE function?

    # The Cobra HAS MORE functions on the 9930 but it doesn't say that it is any better than the Bell 995? RIGHT!!

    # Does Bell 995 have better sensitive electronics over the Cobra?, and therefore have better performance in radar tests?

    # How is the interferance when a cell phone is close, near the dashboard, is the Bell jumpy on interferance?

Please I need to know this cuz I really want a Bell, after I've red the test reviews this Vector 995 must be a S.O.B. radar detector right?
Please fill me in with facts I'M dying to know, thanks to ya all. :P

The Bel is pretty good at detecting radar, the Cobra is bad at detecting radar:

The Bel STi is the only windshield mounted RD on the market that is Spectre invisible.

Yes. The 995 is a big improvement over the Cobra

    # What are the pro vs cons between those 2? Which one is the most prefferable?
The 995 is a good all-round detector. The Cobra looks nice, but is not good at detecting radar. The 995 is preferable.

    # Does the Bell 995 work good in Europe? I live in Denmark.
It depends on which frequencies the police use in Denmark. There are a number of people on this forum who can help you with this question.

    # Why does the Bell unit lack the SPECTRE function?
Only the Bel Sti, Sti-R (remote) and the 9500ci (remote) are spectre proof. Every other detector, from every manufacturer can be detected by spectre.

    # The Cobra HAS MORE functions on the 9930 but it doesn't say that it is any better than the Bell 995? RIGHT!!
Don't be fooled by the Cobra marketing. The only function that matters is the ability to accurately detect police radar and laser early enough so as not to get you a ticket.

    # Does Bell 995 have better sensitive electronics over the Cobra?, and therefore have better performance in radar tests?
    Yes.

    # How is the interferance when a cell phone is close, near the dashboard, is the Bell jumpy on interferance?
I haven't heard anyone complain of interefernce from cell phones, or near the dashboard.

    # Please I need to know this cuz I really want a Bell, after I've red the test reviews this Vector 995 must be a S.O.B. radar detector right?

The 995 shares the same M4 platform as the 940, 955, 965, RX65 and Escort's 8500 x50 and 9500. In theory they should perform similarly (in fact all the Bel's perform pretty close). Bel/Escort do give their top end units some additional sensitivity and added features.

In fact, the best value for the money (in my opinion) is the 940. It doesn't have some of the features of the 995 but detects radar just as well. (see the August Guys of Lidar test. www.guysoflidar.com

What's the difference between the Bel 995 and Cobra xrs 9930?

    Simple.

The Bel is a decent radar detector.

The Cobra is a pile of crap with a lighter cord attached.

    Any questions?

P.S. The Cobra is not Spectre proof. Nor is the 995. If Spectre is an issue where you are, you will want the Bel STi Driver, STi-R remote, or Escort 9500ci (that's CI, not just I).
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Sounds like something the Swiss would do since they hate cars.

Hello to ya all Radar jammers, I want to ask you about the old style vs new style Bel 995 this is for the S7 VS M4 VERSION, what is the diffrence, the new one M4 is this the better one for the european market over the old style S7?

I know that the new style 995 HAS CHROME NUMBERS ON TOP OF THE BEL UNIT.

OLD STYLE HAS THE 995 NUMBER PRINTED IN BLUE COLOR ON A SILVER PLASTIC PLATE.

Which one is the better one to buy? regarding buggs and software upgrades.

Please explain the SPECTRE option that this 995 doesn't offer. What is SPECTRE and how does it work?
My Cobra xrs 9930 has this option.

Thank you for your help. :P

The Spectre-proof feature marketed by Cobra is referring to Spectre I. The current generation of Spectre units is Spectre III, which detects both the Cobra and the Bel V995. Cobra is using marketing like usual in an attempt to fool customers into thinking there RDs are more feature-packed than others, just like they advertise "12 band protection."

The design for the V995 changed a while back, adding chrome numbers on the top, however this has nothing to do with the platform inside. To find out the platform, one must look on the bottom the RD and look at the last two digits of the FCC ID, which will indicate either S7 or M4.

If RDs are illegal, and if they are destroyed on site as hockey055 indicated, get a STi, and mount it out of the LEOs view.

Don't get a cobra...its just a pretty looking pile of crap!

Also, Is Ku used in your area?

Spectre is a RDD (Radar Detector Detector) and there is about 4 different models of spectres I belive, spectre 3-4 being the most common from what I've seen. There is also a 20 year old RDD called the VG2 witch is not very common and most RD's have protection against it.

If RD's are illegal in your area, (ARE THEY?) the RDD's in your area would most likely be spectres 3+4 in whitch case, you should be looking at either the Bel STi, Bel STi-Remote, or the escort 9500ci.

Cobra only offers Spectre 1 protection, and it's probably only a spectre 1 alert, not actual 'invisability' from it. Using this RDD detection however, causes ANNOYING radar falses for every other detector including cheaper model cobras, witch is why everyone and there dog on here is going to recomend that you use something else besides a cobra, and if RD's are illegal in your area to use a real RDD proof RD.

Why do some people answer such silly questions? Like why people get mad at joseph. Ignore. Over.
