    Default sti-r ka segments

The selectable Ka segments for sti-r:

    "Ka1 (33.392 - 33.704) ON or OFF
    Ka2 (33.704 - 33.896) ON or OFF
    Ka3 (33.886 - 34.198) ON or OFF
    Ka4 (34.184 - 34.592) ON or OFF
    Ka5 (34.592 - 34.808) ON or OFF
    Ka6 (34.806 - 35.166) ON or OFF
    Ka7 (35.160 - 35.383) ON or OFF
    Ka8 (35.378 - 35.618) ON or OFF
    Ka9 (35.595 - 35.835) ON or OFF
    Ka10 (35.830 - 35.998) ON or OFF"
(ka7 may be slightly off, I copied this from the online manual and don't have the typo correction insert so tried to guesstimate it)

With that said, driving in US, is there any point keeping any of them other than 2 (33.8), 5 (34.7), and 8 (35.5)? In other terms, I'm not sure if the increased range given reduced frequencies to scan is worth it versus say the device potentially being off on the frequency and missing it or the like.

There's a few older Stalkers floating around out there on 34.94 GHz (that was the original freq) so maybe segment 6 too to ensure full coverage...

We'll have to determine just how much of a performance increase turning off segments would actually give us. But if you think about it, K-Band is 200 Mhz wide, just like these segments, and nobody seems to be concerned about missing alerts from out-of-tune K-Band guns.

BTW welcome to the forum, you must have been a lurker or something to have a first post like that

X2, I'd just leave 2, 5, 8 and maybe 6 on for 'full' protection, screw the rest of the band. I gotta put my SRX in spec mode, might even get rid of stupid KA fales from ft hood

It would be interesting to know what Ka frequency is radiating from the military base there.

Don't these Redflex photo radar operate at like 34.2 GHz Ka? I'm pretty sure someone said the Ka versions of these are used somewhere in Louisiana or something like that.

I'll put it in spec mode for a big when i'm near by, just don't like leaving it in that mode b/c the srx has a tendancy to favor ka over k band because it's "more of a threat".. even in threat mode, I get a full alert of k band and a small ka signal from the base and it's still sounding KA beeps even tho the display is lit up with K band

Thanks for the pointer about 34.94 stalkers. Guess I'll try it out with just those segments (va uses mostly 35.5 kustoms, but might as well cover other possibilities).

Granted it would still be interesting to see how this impacts sensitivity in a more scientific manner (next time I find a drone or a "your speed is x" sign that uses ka). Generally Bel/escort are pretty reasonable on default settings IMHO and in this case the entire Ka band is left on. Thus I"m wondering if it's future compatibility of potential different frequencies, not-willing to ship different defaults to different countries, or perhaps just the gain from turning off a portion of it is negligible.

EWWwwwwwwwwwwww I put the SRX in spec mode near Ft Hood's entrance off of Ft Hood street... KA BAND FROM THE BASE IS 34.729Ghz =X No distinguishing between real threat or not

I was kind of afraid of that.
