Well as how many times did STI saved you from laser, have you ever got tagged by one ?Originally Posted by RW'07
Also for example how do you distinguish when the PO is closer ? by approximately how many feet its starts to beep rapidly ?
also did you ever felt like you need GPS features of 9500i ?
But I just answered it!!! You said that you care about ILLEGAL areas in Canada so in this case you have just one choice: the STI!!! Or have two RDs, the STI for ILLEGAL Canada (and VA) and the 9500i or the V1 for US... I'm a straight shooter, everybody in this forum knows about me :wink:Originally Posted by RusWolf
You gotta explain me what did you mean by tagged!Originally Posted by RusWolf
About PO closer issue, you gotta learn how to wisely operate an RD, learn where the falses are and where the REAL ones are, so when you know that you have to deal with a REAL alert you just slow it down and start analyzing your surroundings...
9500i does not apply to me as stealthiness is extremely important in areas where I drive the most...
If you decide on the 9500i, do not use it in the places where they are illegal, or you will stand a good chance of losing it.Originally Posted by RusWolf
I did have a minor software/firmware problem on my 9500i, but I sent it in to Escort and this problem is now fixed and I have had zero other problems with it, software or otherwise:

This problem was only on the blue display models and I haven't heard of anyone else with this particular problem, so I'm pretty sure it's now a nonissue. It looks like I just had bad luck, since I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem.
It's tough for me to say how this works with Veil, since my car also has a laser jammer installed. The V1 has the best laser sensitivity on the market, but the only laser defense I would trust is a good jammer. Almost always, a laser alert means that you have been tagged. Laser alerts are usually nothing more than a "ticket notification" alert.
Now I got it, very few people use this word when talking about being ticketed or received a traffic fine/ticket...Originally Posted by djrams80
In my case, so far 10/10 laser saves and never been tagged yet!
^^ Ok good So now you know what tagged means, pretty much its the other way of saying hit.
How does your STI performs in the city driving ? does it give ALOT of falses ? i read one of the reviews and ofcourse they rate 9500i at 10 out of 10 in the city and STI 9.5 of 10.. So io thought 9.5 for NON GPS RD is pretty darn good.
So pretty much overall you are happy with 9500i.. have you ever used STI ?Originally Posted by djrams80
P.S. I wish MEM-TECK would chime in his opinion since he has both of them, so he kind of and is able to break each one of them down.
I love my 9500i. I am able to Truelock out false alerts pretty much at will, since at least 99% of my true radar hits are Ka band. I Truelock out everything, but others are more conservative. If you end up getting the 9500i, make sure you read the sticky in the Escort forum about what is safe and what could be problematic to Truelock out. I'm the kind of person that doesn't want to hear their RD go off unless it is a LEO, so the 9500i works perfect for me.
I have both the STi and the 9500i (the 9500i I have had for about 2 weeks). I have driven to and from the Bronx 7 times in the last last few weeks and drive along the routes you have mentioned.
After using the 9500i, that is the detector I would recommend for those areas. I also use the Garmin with the updated RLC locations for the cameras there. The detection of both units is very good and comparable, but the GPS filter ability and the lower off axis sensitivity on the 9500i cut the falses down quite a bit. I have even gps locked out those annoying K band signs on the 9500i. There were seven of those signs running K-band on 87 from Bronx to Albany yesterday. Just my two cents but would definately go with the 9500i if most of your driving is in that area.
