Ok, lads, after my last post, I was out and about, and went back into tech mode. Here's what I experienced this afternoon.

Driving down Calgary's Deerfoot Trail, an oft' patrolled area with Ka Photo Radar, I picked up a signal. Unfortunately, I didn't see the source, so can't confirm it came from a radar gun.

The signal registered on 33.634. This is outside the ranges Multanova notes as being scanned on KaUSA settings.

Also unfortunate that there was no way I couldn't swing 'round and confirm yes to Ka INT, no to KaUSA.

Out of a desire to be dedicated to our shared cause, and make a contribution, I'll stay in tech mode, and look for such an opportunity.

This old thread on the same topic has a confirmation from Roy himself that PhotoRadar uses 33.6, and confirms that it's outside the KaUSA frequency ranges that are swept.

Yeah, I'm sticking with Ka Int'l. I'd have liked to see about faster reaction times with Ka USA, but won't touch it now. PhotoRadar is the main enforcement technique in this city. Probably as much as 80 or 90% of it.

Thanks for all the input. Im not a big in city speeder and don't run red lights so I'll leave in usa mode for better range. At least I hope I get better range.

Here is a list from Florida, these are all confirmed freq. I dont bother with K band for obvious reasons, no point.

Of particular note below for the first few freq, these freq were well out of the +/- range, what does this mean, not much, remember these were confirmed, either the radar equipment was out of tune or the RD was just displaying bad info (perhaps due to the heat in either case). The 33.693/33.712 was particularly interesting as the display "hopped" back and forth, this has also happened for 34.7, and K band also had "hopping"... from the same officer on different days! Keep in mind these freq are outside the USA narrow mode, and the question is to this day, would the detector alert if it had been in narrow mode? I never had an oportunity to flip into the other mode to see what would happen. And since testing showed no significant increase in range with narrow mode (for USA mode), I just left it in Superwide mode, peace of mind.

The list is only one list, I stopped updating it that why the other hopping freq are not pointed out, but I do remember them, I did make posts about the experience a very long time ago.

The point of intl mode is if an officer falls off frequency USA might not alert and intl will. However, since intl has to search through more bands for a signal it will not give you as good as a detection range as USA mode. Also, intl mode will most likely have more falses.
Actually, INTL mode has fewer falses than USA mode.

In my experience, USA mode was particularly helpful with 33.8GHz around curves. In some cases USA mode would nearly double the warning distance over INTL.

However, false alerts definitely increased in USA due to the increased sensitivity.

I never had a Ka false with my RX65 in Intl mode. Maybe in Australia we don't have as many spy satellites hovering overhead? hehehe

But seriously - my x50 has falsed maybe half a dozen times in a year on Ka band... do you guys really get that many falses on Ka???

I got almost none when I first got my RX65, but they greatly increased over time. Many of them seemed to come from the satellite tracking system on semi trucks.

My V1(while I owned it), my STI, and a friend's X50(M4) are apparently much more resistant to falsing.
