Default MY RX65 GOOD FOR A YEAR

Lately there are many postings regarding error code displayed on Bels detector. To make good repair Bels are charging US$60 to $85. Somebody posted after repairs by Bels is good for a year. So ask yourself is worth to repair. Bels product is one the least dependable on the market. I will never buy should I know about it. Someone wrote the return rate of RX65 is 5% due to overheating problems. Why didn't Bels fixed this problem before selling to consumers and should openly recall back all the defect detectors and rectify on a goodwill basis.

So stay away from Bel products and don't be a fool throwing your hard-earned money into the drain.

PS: yet to hear from Roy regarding my email

In a email I got from Roy he said the return rate on the Rx 65,V995 and X50 was 5% but several months ago Bel-Escort had corrected the problem and the return rate had dropped to 1%. I think there was a problem with some of the older units but the newer ones are not having the problems. The one percent is probably wives or girlfriends finding out how much the detectors cost and making them send them back.

Bels should realized this problems long times ago, if you purchased the earlier batch what do you say isn't it fair. Moreover, after repair is good for a year only (there's a thread postedby a reader). Is it worth while of repairing and having the same problem unless Bels is prepare to trade in at a special price for the newer model. As a responsible organisation Bels own us an explanation.....

Dont be so quick to bash the Bels. Escort, Bel, even the V1 all have this problem, but I think its more the fault of the user vs the equipment. Keeping an electronic device in direct sunlight for extended periods of time is not a good idea. I keep mine high above the rear view mirror so the roof covers the detector from the sun. I also always take it down and out of the car when not in use. Have you ever seen what happens to home stereo equipment when it get overheated? It shuts down.

am not bashing Bels there had been too many postings justify the reliability. It's foolish to keep the equipment in the car whereby temperature is extreme high. I believed all detectors regardless V1, Bels, Escorts and others are manufactured to withstand a certain temperature specified in the owner manual. When air-conditioner on also help to keep the temperature down. It's all on the components, parts used in Bels detector failed due to material fatigue. How many owners has encounter this error code post ot here..

I've had my RX65 for about 14 months now, not a second's trouble, and it's been left in the sun PLENTY of times.
