I just sent my STi in to get flashed as I was lazy and still did not have the 33.8 fix. Will report on my laser when I get it back. So far I've only missed 1 Laser alert that I can remember and I have it mounted high above the RVM. |
That was me. The STi did very well against laser in the 1000 foot range. It did seem to have problems picking up scatter at 500 feet and less when the front bumper was targeted by some of the laser guns. The 9500i did noticeably better in this regard which kind of surprised me. Another big surprise for me was that the RX-65 also performed very well and virtually identically to the 9500i against laser in all of the tests.
Regarding your reflashed STi for the 33.8 fix, here is what I noted when I got mine back late last summer:
-- X band definitely and obviously is more sensitive.
-- K band sensitivity is slightly better as well.
-- 34.7 Ka band seemed to be very slightly improved.
-- I haven't been able to tell any difference for 35.5 Ka.
-- I have yet to encounter a 33.8 Ka radar gun with my STi since 33.8 isn't used in my area.
Hopefully you have both some X and K false alert locations around town that you know where your STi normally begins to alert. I am interested to hear your observations about your reflashed STi, and in particular your impressions after you have had several 34.7 Ka encounters with your reflashed STi.
