    Exclamation Bel Cusomer Service

Is BEL's CS always s bad as I experience yesterday? I was looking obuy a detector from an authoized dealer in my city and called the 800 from BEL's site. Some guy insisted that he could only give me a kown list of unauhorized dealers; I insisted BEL must have a record of authorized ones. He really gave me a hard time, suggesting I just ask the merchant - Ask the merchant? You kidding? Anyway, he said, rudely, hold on, came back to the line in a few minutes, and said..."Yeah, they're authorized. Al you would have had to do is call." What horrible CS! If this is what I can expect from BEL, I'm pretty worried should my new detector gos bad...

From my experience, they've always had good customer service. There have been a few members on the forum complaining about Belscort customer service so I guess it just depends on who answers the phone. As for the list of authorized/unauthorized merchants, the CS rep may just have been looking at their online list of unauthorized sellers and if their name isn't on that list, then you're good to go.

Eeek! Last summer, while driving back from a long road trip from Cape Cod to GA, I stopped at a Pilot gas station and saw a brand new STi in the display case. I called up Bel and asked the CS rep if Pilot was an authorized dealer. The CS rep assured me that they were, so I went back into the Pilot and purchased it. Since then I have had numerous good results when talking to Bel/Escort customer service. My favorite CS reps are Aaron, Dan and Dave. These guys rock, know their stuff, and are very helpful and friendly as long as you in turn are sincere and friendly towards them even if you have a problem with a product. Shelly also seems to be "into the groove" and has become quite knowledgeable now. Talk to her nice, and even if she doesn't have the answer to your question, then she will put you on hold, bend over backwards to find out the answer to your question, and then get back to you pretty quickly.

Whether you own a Bel or Escort product, I highly recommend using the on-line chat system found at the top of the page on Escort's web site after you click on the "Product Support" link. On-line chat is great since there is no emotion attached to what you type, even if you are upset because your RD has a problem. Just simply describe the nature of your problem and then the on-line CS rep will help you out. I am a big fan of Escort's relatively new on-line chat system since I have gotten a lot of questions quickly answered that way.

Bel/Escort has strongly focused on providing excellent customer service for the last year, ever since they got a new CEO who started whipping the CS department into shape. We have seen the intro of a bunch of new products too. What was the name of the CS rep you talked to? My guess is that he is pretty new.

Thats my two cents based on my personal experiences when talking or chatting with Bel/Escort CS.

Thats just because you hold huge grudges Dave.

For example, when VR sent me my broken unit, I was upset about the broken unit, but I always praise their CS, even though they didn't pay me back for the shipping charges I incurred for them to fix my broken unit... Yet, you will hear me say very little bad about their CS.

The one time I called Bel CS, it was for my sister's V940. It was acting up, displaying voltage (V pilot mode) and displaying threats with the frequency display. It took me a bit of time to explain the the woman who answered the phone that the V940 doesn't come with the option of turning those display modes on (she kept on saying someone must have changed the display settings.)

I figured that if you are working at CS, you should know a little bit about the product you're giving service to.

In the end, all it needed was a reset. Turns out I had been trying to reset it all wrong. Who knew you didn't have to hold the mute button down. I felt like a noob.
