are these good? I live in florida and this is the best one I can pick up at circuit city.
because my spending limit is about how much they are sold for. I cant find pro 78 anywhere so this is the next best thing. Input would be great. thanks!

Just a heads up, you can get the 955 for 179 on circuitcity.com. Sometimes, they have the 940 for 130 or something like that on their online store.
But the V940 is pretty good for around here.
I don't believe X band is used at all in Florida so upgrade to the 955 and you can disable X band alerts. The Circuit City website often lists them on sale for 170.
The X band off is only available in City Mode ie "City No X" This feature and Autoscan, which is supposed to help reduce falses but in my experience doesn't are the only features that separate the 940 and the 955. So if your budget is stretched to the max at the 940's price point, rest assured you'll have a good detector.
Thanks guys. and another question what is ku band?
Ku is a band used some in Europe and other parts of the world. There was a fear that it would come to the US a few years back, but nothing ever materialized. But the radar detector companies added the band just in case.
another thing is the 940 invisible to rdds? because i dont want to get a fine and lose it....
RD's are legal in Florida. You should have nothing to worry about. Unless, of course, you're a trucker.
But, to answer your question, I'm pretty sure it's not invisible to the Spectre, maybe the VG2. The only RD that's invisible to all RDD's is the STI from Bel.
even if a cop pulls me over and sees that i have one. he wont care? one more thing what about laser jammers...there is alot of them down here, they have to be illegal!
Nope, laser jammers are legal. Radar jammers aren't.
