Sti repaired!! Hats off to Belscort.

I posted a few weeks ago how, while at the GOL tests I found out my Sti was "deaf" to K and Ka bands.

Anyway I dropped my Sti off at Escort in Cincinnati on July 28th and they were kind enough to fix it for free even though it was about 6 weeks out of warranty. Kudos to Escort for this amazing bit of customer service!!!!

I picked up my Sti from my NY home after completing my 2 week road trip and was surprised at how fast the turnaround time was.

July 28--dropped off at Escort in Cincinnati, OH
July 29--repaired
Aug 1--arrived repaired in Niagara Falls, NY

The service card said they repaired the antenna and upgraded the software. (Note to MEM-TEK: the repair card did have LNA written on it, along with a few other "code" letters.)

I haven't done any real tests with it yet (against my V1) but from local known K-band sources, I have to say that my unit is really, really hot on K band.

I was pretty sure that was the problem since Jerry's STi wasn't totally dead to K and Ka band -- just pretty deaf.

I am surprised at how close my V1 and STi are on k-band also. So close the STI sometimes alerts first. Good to hear bel is offering such good service if needed.

Jerry540i....just wondering if you were having any problems with the STI before it was tested at the GOL...is there a self test on that unit that should have caught this??if not what does the self test really do??

I had no idea the detector was not working. It would power up without problem and I never saw a service required message.

Hey Mike. I didn't know they had a ramp-up fix for the Sti. I'm gonna check it out today to see if the software upgrade they gave me includes this.
