Plus, you said you just purchased it relatively recently and are currently in the testing phase, as in, each time you go driving, theres a part of you that hopes youll get an alert to test out your new toy. Yes? Perhaps youve heard of a man named Murphy if you know what I mean.

When I bought mine i didnt get a real alert for over a month, it was frustrating but it wasnt until i gave up TRYING to get a good test that i actually got one. im telling you, just use it normally and stop worrying about it and it will come.

I love my 955 to pieces, wouldnt trade it for anything. It has even picked up laser that wasnt targeting my vehicle, TWICE. Real laser alert, before I even saw the cop. And once when I was the target and i still had that fraction of a second to slow down before he got the reading, because I wasnt stopped. Its an EXCELLENT unit.

I bought a 955 in may of this year and am very impressed w/ it. It was my first detector and I had the same thoughts when it wouldn't go off. But I have since learned to trust it, and no tickets so far.

By far the best RD for the price out there. Performance is not far off V1 and STI in Ka band. You only lose some filtering and a few options with the 955, but performance is Very Good overall for the price.

As far as the detector not going off that much, it's a blessing! Now, in the city, K and X are problematic. City NoX remedies most of it. But you can bet 9 times out of 10, if it's a Ka alert, it's real. Having road tested the "top of the line" Cobra recently, it's a joke. It's better than past ones but that thing falses Ka more than anything I've ever seen. I could NOT be confident about alerts running one of those. With the 955, I have maybe 3 or 4 falses on my commute tops. If I'm getting an alert and it's NOT one of those, I KNOW to slow down. I've had more saves than I could even keep up with, the longest being a 4 mile Ka 34.7 alert on a straight, flat road on a cold, dry day.

Arrows would be a nice thing to have, but the Vectors don't leave you wanting for range.
