Is the 995 that Much Better then the 955?

I was thinking about returning my Bel 955 and getting the Bel 995. I was just wondering if there is a noticeable difference in sensitivity or other features?

There is really no improvement in sensitivity or detection range between the two RD's. The 995 offers Tech display which shows you the frequency of detected signals. It also offers Ku band detection, which of course in the USA is worthless. There are already threads here discussing the differences between them. Just do a search on "vector" and you should find some info. Honestly, unless you are interested in Tech Mode, I'd stay right where you are. You also have an edge over the 940 in that you have City NoX mode and the 940 does not. Because of this, the 955 is the lowest of the Vector line I'd be willing to use.

Depends on the detector. My 940 will consistently beat my 995 on K band, by a wide margin. If your 955 is doing good, don't trade.

I have a Vector 995 and a 955 on different vehicles and they both get a lot of use. Both offer great performance in detecting radar. I have yet to notice a difference in performance between the two of them.

I know on Bel's advertising they show the 995 with greater performance, but every piece of testing I've seen puts all the Vectors with the exact same performance. The more expensive models just have more customization and display features.

I will say, I love my 955, but.....I really enjoy tech/spec whatever mode on my Passport 8500. Can't say it'd make me want to go out and BUY a new detector, but....
