Is the Beltronics Vector 955 still good, or is it outdated?

I bought a Beltronics Vector 955 just a little less than a year ago. I've avoided quite a few police ambushes using it. I know that with some types of electronics, they're out of date quickly, for example laptops and other computers. I also know that there is a small arms race between the speed enforcement technology and the speed enforcement evasion technology.

Would you say that the Beltronics Vector 955 is still a good model, or should I eventually plan on getting a new model? For any new traffic enforcement coming out, should it still be adequate?

I have one that I use in the city and think its more than totally adequate.

Put it this way if it was outdated Bel and Escort would not be using its platform on the G65 and 9500ix

I will put it another way. The Bel Vector V955 uses the same and fairly new M4 antenna platform which is used in all of Bel's Vector series or radar detectors, in Bel's RX65 and GX65, in Escort's 8500 X50, in Escort's 9500i and 9500ix. The only way that the Vector V955 can become outdated is if Bel/Escort developes a new antenna platform which exceeds the performance of the current M4 antenna platform. In other words, its likely that we won't see any new antenna design from Bel/Escort for another two years, at the minimum, since the current M4 design is just that good.

Are you referring to outdated, the model itself or its ability to detect threats?

As for threats, it is def not outdated, it covers all the threats at least north american threats.
