My first big save with the STI

Hello All

First big save with my STI was this morning. Ok here’s the story I have only had the STI for a few weeks now and this morning I was on my way back from London, Ontario just before I get on the highway I turned on my STI. So I am at Wellington Rd and the 401 I turn onto the on ramp to head east. Just as I get half way down the on ramp I see a truck in the far right lane moving pretty quick, so I give my car gas to merge in front of him. So I merge over to the middle lane to get out of the trucks way about this time I am doing around 125 KM/HR. If you know the area there is a small bend right after the on ramp and as I came around the bend the STI goes crazy with C/O KA band. I immediately take my foot of the gas and down shift to slow down. As I get to the PSL I see hiding by the bridge at the 126 exit was an OPP Leo just sitting there C/O everyone that comes around the bend. I left my STI on because this was the test for it as most OPP have a spectre unit's around here. I pass by the Leo and look in my RM and see him pull out behind a Civic that was flying up behind me, he hits his light and pulls the poor Civic driver over :P Funny thing is as soon as I saw the guy getting pulled over I kind of laughed and said “man you should have had a RD” lol anyways that’s my story of my first big save hopefully more to come. My first big save had me happier than a pig in sh*t, too. Since then I've had quite a few good saves. I run from Kentucky to Chicago (about 420 miles each way) about 2 times/month. Even had a couple of laser hits, even with the RD mounted high (i think the LEO had a shaky hand).

congrats..my dad actually called me up today when and he was picking up my sister from skool in the jeep which has the STi hardwired in it...neways he turns onto a neighborhood street and gets a Ka alert i/o!...1/4 mile up the road was an unmarked crown vic shootin Ka from a rear antenna...he said he he passed them the two leos in the car both glared at him because they knew he had picked the i/o up lol

Yeahh I wouldnt count on that too much I've experienced plenty of IO especially in moving mode

Actually I think the OPP use instant on more then constant on. On the 400/404 there is way more instant on. On the side roads I find more constant on. The best/worst for driving around all day with their radar on is the Toronto police. My personal favourite is when they leave their Ka on, get out of the car and shoot lidar. Makes me chuckle everytime I drive by.

Good save, nice to see another fellow Ontarian using the Sti. You should feel lucky the OPP have so many Spectre's. They got rid of all the other detectors for us.
