Autoscan worth the extra $$$?

I do not know if X band is used where I live and I cant decide whether to get the V940 or V955. The autoscan feature is the only thing hanging me up.
Is it worth spending the extra 30+ dollars to get the v955?

I just dont want a bunch of false alarms near my normal 20 minute commute.

Any suggestions?

The autoscan works great IMO. I use it on my STi-R and it makes it alot less chatty around town. So I would go for it and get the 955.

get the 955 because if you find out that x-band is not used around you anymore you can just turn it off completely (city no x), you can't do that on the 940.

I used my autoscan and nothing else on my bel895. Right now, for testing purposes, I am leaving it on Hwy. for the STI. I would get the 955, heck it is only $30. If it was $100, well, then you might want to think about it.

955. $30 over the life span of the RD is nothing, and the benefit of having the ability make it quieter could be priceless.

I agree that it does seem this way. Also, he says the 965 has a better feature set than the 955. We all know this is not true.

FWIW, somewhere on the Bel website there's a chart that say that the 940 has 6 times the detection distance of imported detectors and the 955 has 8 times the distance. While the numbers themselves are pretty much meaningless advertising hype, it does indicate there may be some performance difference between the two.

They ALL use the same M4 platform. Features are the only difference. With that being said I could see Bel/Escort taking the lower yield M4 RD's and using them as their 940's
