Thread: RX65 SWS on

  1. #1

    Default RX65 SWS on

Does anybody put on/activate their SWS on their RX65 unit? Would activiting this feature decrease my RD's performance like decrease in range sensitivity? Should I put on POP and SWS or should I just disbale this?

In some detectors if you disable them you will get fewer false alarms..

I cancelled my SWS setting but kept my POP on. I have not noticed an increase of false alarm instead I have noticed that I can detect daily false alarm areas a little farther than I used to detect it. Just a little more distance than I used to detect it. This is just my initial observation. I'll update my experience with POP on.

Turning off SWS increases K band sensitivity by approximately 2dB. This is why by default SWS is turned off on Bel units. Turning POP on slightly decreases sensitivity on all radar bands and increases false alerts to Cobras and other cheap import radar detector models. This is why POP is turned off by default on Bel units. My advice is to turn SWS off and to turn POP on only if you know that POP radar is used in your area.

Here is an update, there is an area where i know that a leo usually lurks late in the afternoon. Before i had my RD POP off and i detect or recieve the first beep warning around the same stretch of the road. Now that i had my POP on I noticed that I am still on the curve before I reach that straight stretch of area where it start to beep, I would recieved a beep or two of Ka and then it stops and starts to beep as it usually does on that straight stretch.

bro has there been any official tests thats kinda like radar shoot-out where they test the sensitivity to Ka band with POP on/off?
Thanks for the replies by the way.

GOL has done some tests. I am looking forward to their next round of tests which hopefully will be forthcoming sometime this spring or summer. Interestingly, their previous tests were rather inconclusive for some RD models.
