I do not think you will find a speaker at RAT Shack.
You need a 32 ohm speaker approx 1 1/8" diameter.
There are plenty of posts on here that will give you some good links for speakers.
This one will work for sure.

I have 3 speakers on order from Mouser that are all suitable repacements, including the item identified above. All are 32-ohm, in the following sizes: 27 mm, 28mm, and 30mm. I'll be able to report on them next week, as soon as UPS delivers. The 4th replacement speaker is "made" in Australia, I believe, so I have not gotten this one.

Keep us posted, billgerr...I've got two 985's that need new speakers...

The above item is as near to an exact replacement as I have seen. The Kobitone speakers may prove more durable, however, and will require removal of the rubber inserts on the case that clamp the standard speaker.
PM me if you would like speaker(s) replaced. I have done 4 to date and all have been successful as long as the PC board SMDs are intact. Repairs with detached SMDs have been successful as well, as I have a 940 as a parts donor.

hey guys (and gals), I had billgerr replace my speaker for me and he did a great job. Got it back in two days and i can't complain about the price. It was definately worth fixing for now until i have the $$ to purchase a new detector. Packaging was great and he even cleaned it for me. Great deal
Yeah, he's been great with answering all my questions and such...2 thumbs up for a good guy!!Originally Posted by taman
