RX65 vs V995

Talked with Bel Sales earlier and they stated the RX65 and v995 have the same performance. Europe's KU band was bought up as a selling point, but I thought it was not widely used in US.

After trade-in, RX65 is $260 and v995 is $220. Are these decent prices and is the RX65 worth the extra $40?

Ku is not used at all in the US. Ka USA on the RX65 might give it an edge over the 995 and I think the 65 also has threat mode display.

Yep, those are the two differences. Both are splendid radar detectors.

Either one better (or easier) to hardwire? I may go power outlet with unit windishield mounted near dash. Any difference? Either one better for my 'vette for 6 people (Honda Odyssey)?

Either one have known bugs or need to ensure a certain version (firmware) when purchasing?

$40 isn't a big deal so leaning towards the RX65 unless someone tells me the 995 is better quality, easier, etc...

Thoughts??

The only thing which I can think of is that the RX65 features a more tilted back display which makes the display a bit harder to see if you mount it up high near your vehicle's rear view mirror. Other than that, there are no known firmware bugs present in either one of which I am aware of. The RX65's Threat Display mode is handy -- especially when driving around town and if X and/or K band is still used in your area in addition to Ka band.

i love my rx65..it is hard to see if you mount it high, and i mean high..but you can still make out the words, numbers, and letters at a glance. i dont know if the 995 can do this, but on the rx65 if you go into programing, you can lock out x alert on city. thats what i like about mine. and as cheap as your getting it why not get the more expensive one..i paid 303 for mine at a circuit city. good luck.

Folks - Thanks for your responses to my questions and add'l input. I went with the RX65.

I like the configuration options to show A, H, C instead of the entire word across the front of the unit and the fast power to avoid listening to the start-up sounds.

Are there any negatives to turning the power on sequence to fast?

No. Just a quieter startup.
