    Default RX-65 Mounting Question

I've had my RX-65 for about two weeks now and I have a mounting question. My RD is mounted low in the middle of the windshield. I noticed that it is level from left to right but I guess because of its weight it is angled slightly upwards from front to back even though it is as close to the windshield as possible. Is this a problem that would affect its range or sensitivity or is it nothing to be concerned about?

Small angles won't hurt you any. If it's a concern to you, just bend the bracket a little.

So it should be as level with the road as possible?

Thanks, I'll adjust the bracket and use my torpedo level to check it.

Don't loose a whole lot of sleep over a couple degrees. It'll never stay spot-on for long, as it gets warm out the suction cups get a little softer and let the detector sag a little, then as it cools off, they stiffen up. As long as it's close you're good.

Okay. I'm new at this stuff and wasn't sure how big a deal to make of it.

Since I seem to have neglected earlier -
    Welcome to the forum!

Have you had any real radar encounters with the RX yet?

The RX65 is an awesome detector, congrats on the purchase. Hopefully it'll serve you as well as it has myself. Almost a year and a half with no stops, typically 5-15 MPH over the limit.

Thanks for the welcome. The only encounters I've had so far are about a half dozen POP alerts (probably someone else's leaky RD), the usual automatic door falses, and a couple of KA hits on the highway. I've seen some LEO's on the highway median but got no hits. I drive in traffic a lot and a lot of times you can't even reach the speed limit so they probably did not have radar on and were on a donut break. By the way, this forum is terrific. You guys and gals are really knowledgeable about this topic while my knowledge of radar and laser is in its infancy.
