    Default Beltronics and Canada

Alright, Im fairly new to all this, but this website has taught me every thing I need to know and more. As far as i understand, all Beltronic radar detectors are undetectable by and law enforcement equipment. So i was wondering if i could order a one from beltronics and have it shipped to Canada. Does anyone know whether or not it will make it over the border, or will customs take it, leaving me with nothing?

Only the Beltronics STi, STi-R and Escort 9500ci are undetectable

This statement is wrong. Only three RDs are undetectable, the Bel STi($500), Bel STi-R($1100) and the Escort 9500ci($1600).

I ship to Canada all the time and I have never had a customer not receive the detector or pay duties or taxes...

Radar detectors are duty free as per the Free Trade Agreement.

Canada Customs will levy GST and PST.

Laws prohibiting vehicles from containing a detector are provincial highway traffic laws. Customs officials do not enforce provincial highway statutes, they enforce Federal Customs and Immigration laws.

Customs will not seize it, its not an illegal item. Even in Ontario for example, where you cannot have a detector in your car, there is no law stopping you from owning or even using a detector (just not in/on a motor vehicle!)

i buy my STI on a e-bay seller that was an authorized dealer , no problem at the

customs , did not pay fees or tax. just the RD.

p.s. i think & almost sure that Beltronics dont sell in Canada except 2 prov. : B.C & Alberta and the price is almost the double in Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you everyone.. that question is now answered, but that last comment brings a new look to the whole situation.. What would be my best bet if i were looking into buying a RD from beltronics? the cheap STi model? or do the more expensive models provide higher safety? and because beltronics 'apparently' doesnt ship to Ontario, should I look into buying one off of e-bay?
