Default Looking to buy the Bel Sti but have a question...

I've finally decided to pull the trigger on the Sti and forget about the v1 as it seems they will never come out with a stealth version(I live in Canada). I wanted to purchase it from Radarbusters.com as they are a well known authorized dealer. Now my question is will the Sti come with the rampup fix if I purchase from them. I called them up and the lady I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about. What is the actual firmware # that I should be looking for with this ramp up fix on it?

    Hi 2000gsr,

I just finished a chat with Bel. All STi's produced during or after the 42nd week of 2008 include the new firmware which includes the audio ramp-up fix. Thus any STi with "4208" or higher following the serial number will have the new firmware with the new audio ramp-up.

The manufacturing week and year is not on the outside of the STi's box. When talking to RadarBusters to order, have the sales person actually go and open up an STi in order to check the last four digits following the serial number in order to see if these four digits are 4208 or higher. If so, then that STi is good to hit the mail to you!

Just got a Sti Wednesday and the last four digits following the SN is 0709 now I feel like I just grabbed the first slice of a new pie at a pizza buffet. THANKS for the info MEM-TEK!

oh no! for some reason I thought that ramp-up fix was okay with any device made in 08! I just got an 0808 =( other than the ramp-up fix, anything else that I am missing that may be important?

There are a million threads on this on the first two pages here. You have all the info you need in there. The new firmware has much improved code in Autoscan mode.

You must have been thinking about the old 33.8 bug from back in 2007. Don't fret. You can call Bel and get an RMA number so that you can send it in to have it flashed with the latest firmware. The RMA number is good for a long time. So you can send it in when its convenient for you to do so. You even might want to use your STi for a while in order to become completely familiar with it. Then, after you send it in and get it back with the new firmware, you will be like, WOW! What will impress you, aside from the new audio ramp-up, will be how AutoScan mode was enhanced to filter out some of the weaker false alerts which you regularly encounter around town.

What about the STi-R? Do you know the date code for the ramp up fix on the STi-R? I don't believe mine has the ramp up upgrade.
Valentine One (3.858 Ice Cream Truck, 3.812 in Vette)
4 Head LI (On Vette) (7.11 CPU Regular heads front, HP Heads on the rear)
    9500ci (On Vette)

LI Quad (On Ice Cream Truck)

LI Dual (On SRX, 7.06 CPU)

ProLaser II, ProLaser III, Stalker LZ-1, LTI Marksman & Laser Atlanta "R" (looking for an Ultralyte LRB)

    2008 Corvette Z-51 Coupe

    Escort 9500 ix (Cadillac SRX)

I haven't been able to get a date code for the STi-R. Its possible that Bel isn't quite sure of the date code. Yet I would think that any STi-R produced after November of 2008 should have the new audio ramp-up? This is just a guess.
