Default Laser Detection on STi Stinks

I've owned my STi for about 6-months and NOT ONCE has it alerted me to laser.

I came from having a V1 that would false sometimes when facing neon signs or approaching Infiniti's, but whenever I got hit with Laser, it would let me know.

The other day, my ALG8 went off and my STi was SILENT. Not a peep.

    If I didn't have an ALG8, I would've been absolutely toast.

I'm so disappointed about my STi's laser detection, I dunno what to do about it.

I had it sent in for the Ramp-Up firmware fix so I'm sure they must have "checked it out" while it was there. Also, I went into the menu system to make sure laser detection was on.

You don't need to do anything about it. You have an ALG8.

Laser detection isn't important on a RD and the laser detection on Belscorts isn't that good anyway. I've been tagged on multiple occasions with lidar and my 9500ix didn't alert. Once I even got tagged.

Yeah, but I don't trust it 100% so I would like it if my STi gave me an alert too just in case the ALG8 misses it.

Also, sometimes when the music in my car is playing loudly, the ALG8's speaker is too quiet for me to hear!

I have had my LI go off several times now & my STi was screaming it's head off too. I have been pleasantly surprised by my Sti's ability to pick up laser.

I agree, laser detection on a RD is just about worthless. It's won't save you 95% or more of the time. A jammer is the only laser protection there is.

The STi is a great radar detector, use it for that and quit sweating the laser part, let the ALG8 take care of that part.

I own a bunch of Belscorts, but the only RD worth a dam* for laser is the V1. Period. End of story. Expect anything else, and you'll always be disappointed.

My STi alerted to laser, starting from about 1600 feet and down to a distance of about 800 to 500 feet, when approaching every lidar gun at the last Atlanta Jammerfest. My STi is mounted above my RVM. My STi also alerted to laser while driving away from the lidar guns once my distance reached about 800 to 900 feet, and continued to alert to the rear laser shots out to the maximum course distance of around 1600 feet.
