Been posting here and reading the forum for some time now, and I'd like to ask about Bel STi installation using 3m connector which can be attached straight to some existing wire and then the detector's "+" wire can be plugged into that connector. The connector looks like this:
Which wire would be best to attach the connector to? I've been thinking about cig lighter wire, but there's two connectors coming to my cig lighter. One has 3 or 4 wires and another has only one wire (I bet it's for the lighter's illumination). Can I use the illumination wire? Will I be able to use my cig lighter for anything else if I'll be using it's "+" wire for my STi, or will it just blow the fuse?
What's the best way to connect my STi to the kill-switch? Is it possible to use the kill-switch which is allready in use for my sidelights or will I have to use a separate switch? If I will connect my STi to the kill-switch will I still have to use the 3m connector or will I be able to take "+" straight from the switch?
Many stupid questions, but I'm hoping for answers as I'm not an expert and did not install the switch for sidelights myself so I don't know how is it connected and how it works.
And oh one more thing, there's a text regarding 3m connector: "connector can be used ONLY with wire gauges 14 through 18". What does this mean?
Best regards, Alex
