Well, your remote needs to have some sort of transmission on something around 904 nanometres and 33 MHz.

A television remote has all kinds of different wavelengths and bandwidths of infrared light. For example, an RCA TV set's ON button might be close enough to set off a detector, but a Sony ON command won't. ( or vice-versa).

I have set off laser alerts with TV remotes in the past, but I also had laser alerts when I drove facing the sun too :x

The pulses are from 150 to 230 pulses per second, not 33 million pulses per second.

All remote controls do not output the correct pulses, so try another remote and different buttons.

TV remote works on 940nm, but it will output at 904nm, just not as strong.

I wouldn't expect it to, or at least not by much.

I was unable to activate the laser alert on my RX65 with any of a number of remotes, including setting my universal remote for an RCA tv. But I have also never had a laser false, so it may be some sort of filtering.

No. I've tried and doesn't work... even with various r/c it does not set off at all.
