Thread: 955 Save

    Default 955 Save

First let me say that I would suggest never turning off X detection. You never know when you'll come in contact with it.

Second..I don't speed on purpose. I only use my detector to be more aware of what's around me...to keep me alert and on my toes.

The following story is an example of both points!

Driving from NJ to Myrtle Beach. We always take a short cut from Lumberton, NC through back roads to Myrtle. The only slow down is in a small NC town between Lumberton and Myrtle where the speed limit drops from 60 to 25 MPH.

Its 11:45 pm and I'm tired. Can't wait to get to the hotel.

As I approach that small NC town I get an X alert (1-2 bars). I make sure I'm at the psl of 35. Them X goes to full alert as the town cop passes me in the opposite directon. Then silent. Then X starts to ramp up again as I'm now in the 25 MPH zone.

I look behind and the office had turned around and was following me through town. I keep right at 25 MPH as my detector stays at full X.

As I leave town he turns off.

For sure, with my fatigue and desire to get to Myrtle, without a detector (or one that had X off) I would have likely been over the psl and received a ticket!!

Nice save, don't hear about X band saves to much anymore. I bet I only run into it around here once or twice a year.

    Thanks

We also have alot of X in our local towns in South Jersey, and along the NJ Turnpike.

Not being able to turn off X-band on the 955 saved me once. Had I taken the 8500 that night on which X is normally turned off, I'd have one big (25-30 over) ticket.

City NoX effectively disables X-band without affecting other bands.

(My state has a list of approved devices and there's not a single X-band gun on it. If you don't have that assurance, it's your call.)

Nice. I take that same route to MB.

What bands did you pick up in MB?

If you take the same route then you know the town I'm taking about. Not even sure what the police are watching since most of the "downtown" is made up of abandon buildings!

As far as radar in Myrtle, didn't come across any real radar the entire week of our stay. Just the usual K alerts from those flashing road/warning signs.

Post your findings in the "radar bands by town" thread. X band is a live and well in NC.
