    Default STi Driver Question

I bought a Used STi Driver that I thought I was getting a good deal on but once I got it I noticed the date code is 23/07..Plus when I do a reset it says RevA 4 and RevM 9....I know the date code but what do the Rev#'s mean is it in need of the ramp up fix and bug fix?
I am thinking of filing a paypal claim....Any thoughts

"It means that Bel is using a specific brand IC photo sensor for controlling the alphanumeric display's brightness. For a while they used a different brand IC photo sensor after they changed the design from the A4 M9's display board which used a simple analog photocell. Depending on the brand of IC photo sensor used, the firmware will display either A7 M9 or A6 M9. Bel seems to have settled on the IC photo sensor associated with the A6 M9 firmware. In other words, the displayed firmware version is tied to whatever specific brand of hardware components are used inside the RD. My STi with the latest audio ramp-up fix firmware flash (done only two months ago) still displays A4 M9 simply because my STi has the older analog photocell. " Mem-Tek

"I recall that STi's manufactured during or after 2707 have the 33.8 bug fix, and that Bel told me that there was a "grey area" between 2407 and 2607 where they were not sure if the bug fix had been applied during production." Mem-Tek

I am willing to bet it doesn't have either update, unless the person you bought it from had it updated. Did he say if he ever sent it in to get new firmware.

I'll bet that bel will do the ramp up fix for free. That will also incorporate the fix for the 33.8 bug. I would give bel a call and ask them if you could send your STi in for the ramp up fix.

I think I remember Mem-Tek suggesting people ask for the high temp speaker upgrade while they're at it.

The 33.8 bug was early in the life of the STi. It was, or almost was, deaf to 33.8 Ka. If it has the ramp up fix, it's good to go.

Contacted Beltronics. Here is my conversation.
Contacted Beltronics via online. Here is conversation.

Welcome to Beltronics.! An online representative will be with you shortly. You are number 1 in the queue. Your wait time will be approximately 0 and 21 seconds. Thank you for waiting.

You are now chatting with 'Shawn'
Shawn: How may I help you today?

ME: I have a STi Driver that I have had for a while and since I joined RadarDetector.net I have been told that it needs a firmware upgrade to fix some issues with ramp up and 33.8 bu..How do I do this...I'm concerned because I never knew about the issue.

    Shawn: Hmmm

Shawn: I am not aware of any problem, or fix, for that matter.... Are you having problems with your detector?
you: Very week performance against 33.8 KA and bad ramp up...I contacted RadarRoy and he advised that the STi had a issue when it first came out with detecting 33.8 and it also had a bad ramp up but Beltronics released a firmware upgrade to fix it. I was told by him Beltronics was fixing them at no charge.

Shawn: How long ago did you get your STI?

ME: The date code is 23/07....I did not know about these issues until recently when I joineda forum and they told me I had a major issue with the STi because of the date code. They say said the fixes where not added to current detectors until after 27/07....My Rev is RevA4 M9
you: I concerned because 33.8 is used by FHP a lot in my area and if ther is a problem with the firmware it needs to be fixed

Shawn: I checked with my manager--he said there was a revision a long time back, and that if you would like, you can send it in, and we will take care of it for you, if yours does not have it. Call customer service at 800-543-1608 and let the rep know that you talked to me, and that the manager approved looking at it for free.

ME: do I tell the just Shawn as your name.

Shawn: Yes--that's me. I am the only Shawn here.

    ME: im calling now

Shawn: Ok--let me know if you have a problem.

you: he is being a jerk

    Shawn: Who?

ME: he said is name so fast...I didn't catch it..He acted like I was a problem...He tried to say there was never a 33.8 problem or a ramp up problem..He still agreed to look at it...But would not confirm he would not charge me.

ME: maybe you can look it up by the return # he gave

Shawn: Yes--what is it--I will make sure notes reflect no charge...

    ME: R50993

    Shawn: need one more number...

    Shawn: Should be 6 numbers?

Shawn: What is your zip and last name?

ME: that is the number he gave and I even had him repeat it...I told you he was a butt..He went so fast like i was a bother
    you: 33810...hardy

    Shawn: your first name?

    ME: micah

Shawn: Ok, I added notes- The RA # is R509993, so an extra 9. You should be good to go.
ME: Thank you very much..Have a Happy Thanks Giving!

    Shawn: You too!!!

Be sure you put a note in the box stating exactly what you want done. You will be a happy camper with the ramp up fix.
