Good luck on that! I spoke with them and on my Sept 08, production model and they claimed I had the latest, but I won't know for sure until this weekend when I finish my install.
Below is the email they sent me with my original email question:
There are no new bands or frequencies of radar or laser in the US, so no update is required at this time. Should an update become available for your detector, it would have to be sent in to our repair facility to be updated.
The audio ramp up you have read about in the forums was for much older STI R units and their have been no changes to that product since the 35th week of 2008.

You did not answer my question.
Their is a known fix for ramp-up issues attributed to this particular model which was being repaired by BEL for the customer. I am not your average radar detector user and have a very solid understanding of how these units work. I am a member of several forums which address this very problem.
The serial number of my unit and the production date would indicate whether or not this unit has the current fix. If CS cannot answer the question, then an engineering tech can and I would like to hear from them, as stated in the last sentence of my original email.
At the very least, BEL should be willing to check the unit and ensure that the most recent software is installed. I am a long time BEL and Escort user, currently running a 9500ix in one vehicle and an 8500 X50 in another. This unit was bought by an authorized dealer and has a full factory warranty. It is my expectation that for the amount of money I spent on this device, that BEL stand behind the product.
Your attention to this matter is most appreciated.

Revisions are based on both software and hardware. Any change in components, suppliers, or software will alter the revision number. Revision numbers are for internal development only and will not be recognized by the end user. Our Customer Service Department does not keep track of the revision numbers, since they offer very little to no change in performance.

Hello,
I got a new STi-R this past week but noticed that the production date was 3508. This is obviously a concern to me because I am sure that I do not have a current version with the ramp up fix.
I spoke with BEL (Michael) today via the online chat and he told me that my unit did not need the fix because it was not one of earlier versions.
I have confirmed elsewhere that units produced 4208 had the fix and any produced prior to this production needed the update.
Please advise. This was the last unit the dealer had so exchanging it for newer one can't be accomplished.
I would really appreciate hearing from one of the engineering techs on this.
Thanks,
*******
my last STi-R was 3809, before that it was xx09..
35th week is September :/
Edit: speaking of which i just looked at the datecode on the S/N of the card from my repair, looks like mine was a 35/08 guess that explains the firmware update they gave me.

Could someone please explain the 33.8 issue with the STI-r. Is it that it fails to detect it or what? Thanks
35th week of 08 would put it around September wouldn't it?
