KU is a hell of a lot easier to detect than the other bands....I tend to think this is one of the reasons it hasnt been introduced...besides that, how many bands do they need??

You will be in a nasty shock when you call escort to get the update done...and they say...sorry there is nothing for the escort mwwwaaaaahhh

According to RadarRoy, the 8500 X50 and Bel RX65 are the same unit

with cosmetic changes(different case, etc.) and different software. Since

the RX65 has KU, I wouldnt think adding it to the 8500 X50 would pose a

challenge. Anyway, I must admit I am getting off topic for this thread. I

simply think non-upgradeability is a significant omission for a detector in

this price range, especially since this will now be the most expensive dash-

mount unit. Otherwise, the advertising impresses me if it all turns out

true when put to the test, especially when the rumored "spectre 4" shows

    up. Only time will tell.

it wouldnt pose a challenge, its just the fact that Belscort claim to be upgradable but they will never do it...

It sounds odd for the STi not to have it's programming stored on a flash chip. I believe what Bel says about "non-upgradeable" is just because they are tired of us *****ing about the "upgradable" RX65 and X50 that never were.

They better... if anything release an upgrade for the X50 adding the option of Ku and put an upgrade to the RX65 that changes the "Self-Calibration" message to read "All is well no worry Beltronics is awesome!"

Seems the new STi has improved the laser receiving portion of it's radar detector!! 8)

    BEL RX65 Detector Specifications :

    Features and Specifications
    Operating Bands
    · X-band 10.525 GHz ± 25 MHz
    · K-band 24.150 GHz ± 100 MHz
    · Ka-band 34.700 GHz ± 1300 MHz
    · Ku-band 13.400 GHz ± 25 MHz
    · Laser 904nm, 33 MHz Bandwidth

    STi Driver Detector Specifications:

    * Operating Bands
    X-band: 10.525 GHz ± 25 MHz
    K-band: 24.150 GHz ± 100 MHz
    Ka-band: 34.700 GHz ± 1300 MHz
    Laser: 904nm ± 13nm

This seems to be great news because the old Cobra I have detected laser much better than the RX65, and it scanned ±25nm I believe, the V1 does this as well, looks a little above and below the usual 904nm. Lets see if maybe the STi has better range as well for radar

yeah...even my old Bel 880 detects laser 10 folds better than the RX65...

Mind you I have never missed a laser hit on my RX65 yet

mmm well now you know why the V1 has more laser falses
The V1 Laser is 820-950 nm. Something to do with the detectors laser eye why its so good not it's scan
