Will installing inside the cabing on the backside reduce the sensitivity? It will still have clear view of the road, yes, but the "angle" will be smaller. Quite the same thing as mounting to the bumper. You can do the install so that the receiver is a bit "inside" or then so that it's sticking out a bit. If it's sticking out it has bigger "ange of view" and probably the detection is better as it sees much more than just what's straight in front...

Best regards, Alex

Is it okay to install the receiver of an STI-r inside the cabin? I mean is it protected against high temperatures caused by baking sun?

It is not good to keep STi portable in the car when it's too hot, I suppose it's the same for STI-R... No?

Best regards, Alex

Is the antenna of the STI-r large enough that it would be immediately noticeable on the luggage rack of an SUV? Would this be a decent place to permanantly mount it for use in a detector banned area?

MEM-TEK posted 3D paper models to help with mounting locations. You can find them here.

The cable from the receiver is fairly thick. Discretely routing it into your vehicle's cabin, where the interface is located, will be tricky.

Note that the STi-R's laser reception will be worthless with the receiver mounted on your roof.
