Talking help with where to mount Bel STi-R, and which KA segmnts to have on!!

Hey guys!! Im new to the forum and have just bought a bel STi-R . I live in western australia and multanova is the main threat here. I thought I could put this photo up of the front of my car and it would be great if you guys could make recommendations of where to install the unit? Im also probably going to get the laser interceptor jammer (standard dual head) as we will have poliscan cameras ariving here soon. Also for the cops with laser guns on the side of the road. You guys think thats a good jammer? The reviews on the net are so conflicting!

Another question is which KA segments should I have on for multanova? UI know they are 34.3 but apparently they can go out of tune occasianally, therefore do I need to have other segments on also to cover for this?

Im excited to get it installed but dont know if it would be cheaper to get both systems installed at once or not?

Any help with all these questions would be great and appreciated!! thanks

Anywhere through that lower grille will work fine, just so long as it is fairly straight, fairly level and has a clear view of the road. Whatever you do, do not mount it behind the grille.

Blue for LI jammer heads and red for STi-r radar antenna. For the radar antenna, you'll have to cut your grille. Mounting the antenna behind the grille will reduce detection range. The same goes for the LI jammer heads. They MUST have a clear view of the road.

The LI is a great jammer system. I strongly recommend it.

thanks snoopy and djrams, I was under the impression for multanova the sti-r should be mounted vertically? How important is it I cut the grill for the detector, rather than place behind the grill and try best to line those 2 bumps on the stir box with the holes in the grill? Im just hoping i wont have to cut too much for if i sell the car one day! also for stealth when the police look at the car.

I believe you are correct, but we don't have Multanova here in the States, so I'd wait until someone chimes in that has more experience with these than we do.

My 9500ci radar antenna sucked against Ka band when I had it mounted behind my Mustang's grille. Then, I mounted the antenna through the grille and performance skyrocketed. Against those cameras, you're gonna need all the sensitivity you can get.

If this is a problem, then do what I did and buy an aftermarket grille to hack up. Then when you sell the car, put the original grille back in the car.

I can't tell you for sure about the vertical/horizontal issue, but you definitely need to let the whole antennae have a clear view of the road

You will most definately need to mount it vertically to have any chance with the multinovas. When your detector is mounted horizontally it is vertically polarized, so to detect horizontally polarized radar you will need to mount your detector vertically. You should only need one Ka segment on because they do not drift far enough out of tune to require another segment to be on. One segement covers enought drift either way and then some.

KA 4 covers the multanova frequency: 34.184 - 34.592

I never saw multanova which is out of tune. +- 100 MHz, tops.

Correct! Mount your antenna vertically and you will gain twice as much distance.

thanks for your help guys! I think ill have to try find other grills for the car so that i can cut these ones up a bit. Thanks also for the advice on only running segment 4 as on, this should help a fair bit also!
