Just recieved my v995 today

I got 2 K band warnings on my way back from picking it up.. Didn't see a cop though.
Loving it though.

Anyways I was wondering what to do with the settings.. This is my first RD.. Don't know much about them.

Should I just leave it on auto scan?

I too am trying out my new V995. Received it last Friday and used it going from Georgia to Texas. It did not alert when I used my garage door opener right next to it which I thought for sure would set it off based on comments I have read about false alerts. However, I did manage to avoid several threats on my way, but it also did not respond to several LEO's in the median. Don't know for sure if their radar was off or not, but they sure weren't eating donuts. I also passed 5 state troopers sitting off the side of the road on the other side that did not set off the detector. Guess time will be the true test. I think the hardest part is getting it installed without it being completely obvious.

It is a radar detector not a cop detector.

Probably using I/O. This can be deadly if yo do not have a good rabbit.

I suggest to all that you change from Auto to Highway, thus reducing some of the filtering and giving the RD it's highest sensitivity setting.

Soltrek, sounds like you have a lot of activity in your area. Let me know how your V995 reacts to I/O, I've been curious for about 3 months. I've only come across it once or twice, but it hasn't failed to this point.

Make sure cops in your area don't still use X band though. I know they do in Jersey, so I have it enabled on my 995.

X band is coming back slowly in certain areas across the US because so many people turn it off and LEOS (law enforcement officers) know about this. Make sure x is NOT used in your area before turning it off or you will be sorry.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol uses X in southwest Ohio. Even in their newer vehicles

Turn Pop and SWS off run in Highway mode. The only X falses you will get are the stray Radio Tower or Walgreens. I had the V955 and loved it and the range was awsome! I would leave X on because you can never be sure when they might use it agian! Automute if you drive with the A/C on during the summer and if you like the windows down leave it off. JMO
