    Default BEL 980

Im new to the forum so I hope this isnt old stuff. Got a bel 980 and its been working fine 3+ years no tickets . especially in wisconsin, they dont like Illinois people. I got this Bel 980 because it was reprogramable and able to keep up with the new stuff out on the street. Now Im seeing pop technology and new bands on the scene.WhenI called about 9 months ago they said nothing new.And I was good to go. Does anyone out there know if they ever reprogramed one of these things. Im beginning to think they are full of it. TX. ELDO GUY . Great site for those of us in a hurry !!!!

I remember something about Bel giving credit for a trade-in. Is that actually the case?

    Default Upgrade

The ability to detect POP radar can only be done with a "hardware" upgrade, not a software upgrade.

For the new Escorts and Beltronics they developed a new antenna and a new motherboard

I have a Bel Vector 985......bought it because of the
"advertised programable" feature. There is NO programable feature for these units.
Bel finally admitted to me these units can not be upgraded to deal with POP.
It was nothing but sales hype.
If you want POP protection, you're stuck buying a new detector.
Personally I find Bel's customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks of the Info, looks like I can get it reprogramed for about $329.00 I also noticed that the RX65 PRO is also reprogramable !!!!! . What happened to the sws function , I thought it was pretty neat I actually had a few real alerts in the Greenbay Wisconson area . Some one mentioned a trade in option offered by Bel is this still in effect tx ELDO GUY .

    Yep, it does...
Not that I've ever seen an SWS alert though, or even expect to. I would be very suprised if I did...
