Thread: Tuned STI-R

  1. #1

    Default Tuned STI-R

I am not allowed to post links, so:
Do a search on youtube on "tuned by LI Team"

First video is a video of a sti-r that is said to be tuned.

Does anybody understand in what way it is "tuned" ?

They probably have every band turned off except Ka4 is on.

You mean also turning off the K-band ? (would that help improve detection on Multanova ?)

    Or only the Ka-segments ?

I know Ka band performance is increased in the U.S. if you turn off the Ka segments that are not really in use. I think X and K band are pretty small and can be scanned quickly so it might not increase performance that much, but I guess every bit counts.

    Nothing to "tune," just programming.

I think Multanova might be vertically polarized, so the STi-R antenna could probablly be mounted vertically to increase detection.

Wouldn't that be similar to running the V1 in Euro mode?

One thing I am not clear on is how RDR compares to Ka guard.

When we tested the STi-R with 2/5/8 RDR-Off it would not miss a 35.5 QT burst greater than 100ms.
The V1 with Ka Guard off missed a few.
The V1 with Ka Guard off also falses much more.

    No clue about v1 euro
