I know its sounds like a lop-sided comparison, but it really isn't. I've been searching for my 1st detector for awhile, and the V940 caught my eye first for being cheap and powerful. I was recommended here in my intro post to go for the 8500 X50 refurb. But, recently, I looked at the 2007 Guys of LIDAR tests and found the V940 to be the same, if not better, to the whole vector series and the X50 on straightaway tests! Just by that alone I'm heavily persuaded to the V940. The next test was around the curve, and this is where the X50 shined. The vectors were close to each other as usual, but in Ka band detection, the V940 detected 600 feet after the X50! On K band detection, the V940 was only 200 feet behind on a 1000 foot course, and I'm not worrying there.
So, for only one bad test result, do you think its worth it to upgrade to the X50? In my mind, not really, but I would like some outside opinions.
