I got a 4 to 5 second alert showing 34.7, then the detector was silent for about 20 seconds. After that it started alerting, but very slowly to 34.7. When I got about a mile away the alerts started to pick up, and about 3/4 of a mile away I could see a Fla. Highway Patrol car that had a customer pulled over on the right side of the road (patrol car facing away, customer parked in front of the patrol car). A few seconds after I spotted the patrol car, the cop got back in and pulled away.
Either the cop had front and back radar going at the same time, or the customer's car was doing a very good job reflecting the radar signal (or both). The road was pretty flat, with just a few slight dips and a slight bend in the road, enough to prevent me from seeing the cop until I was relatively close.
A very good performance by the Sti-R. I was running with the Sti-R only and had the Valentine turned off.
