When I lived in Florida, I caught a few laser alerts from something or other on the RX65. Now, 3 years later, living in Calgary where they actually use laser for just about every stationary speed trap, I never get alerted to laser.
I realize that Laser is very direct and very instant, and people say that when you see "Laser" on the display that it's pretty much too late. But, I don't even see "laser" on the display, ever! I've driven through several dozen laser traps and not once seen any type of warning. Is it simply that the officer didn't visually feel that my vehicle was speeding so didn't shoot me with it? Or is laser really so fickle that it won't get detected at all?
I don't want to get into laser jammers or whatever those things are called. I don't want to walk the grey-area of the law, I honestly do my best to just not speed because there's just so many cops around this area. Luckily, the laser traps are ALWAYS where the highway goes from 100 or 110 to 80 - usually construction zones, so as long as I catch the 80 sign and slow down, I'm safe.
However - are there any products that do a better job of detecting laser? I heard the V1 does a pretty decent job at picking up laser, but I don't like the V1 overall, and my next detector will be the GPS-enabled Escort. 9500ix I believe? If there were a product that would plug in to it that would provide superior laser alerts, that would be nice :-)
