Default ## After the GOL Radar Shootout - STi needed for testing ##

    Hey guys,

A while ago, Roy referred me to a knowledgeable Engineer from Whistler. His name is Mike B. He posts on this board from time-to-time, and has shared some valuable information with us like:

    http://radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?p=45376#45376

    http://radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?p=40120#40120

    And

    http://radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=2917

Anyway, Mike would like to get his hands on the new Bel STi for all kinds of testing, but has been unable to because they are back-ordered.

I spoke with him about this, and he says that if someone can lend him their STi, he will completely test it in his Professional Lab - and post the results on this forum!

So if anyone lucky enough to have an STi already would kindly lend it to Mike, he would really appreciate it and we can all benefit from learning the results.

If you need his references, just ask Roy!

PM me for details, and I will hook you up with Mike.

Yes... You, Roy, or anyone else who was lucky enough to get one already.

GOL will definitely be a "real world scenario" test, but with his Lab - Mike can test things like response time down to the millisecond. We can find out how long it takes in ms for the STi to respond to X, K, Ka, POP etc. He can test sensitivity in dBm for every band as well.

    Guys,

Please remember that we still need an STi for Mike to test...

We will be able to find out even more about sensitivity (dBm), response time down to the millisecond on each band, stealth and leakage capability etc.

Anyone brave enough to send me their STi?
If I can borrow one for a day of lab testing, I will be able to give you a report of my findings for your baseline reference.
This way, when the new software version is released to reduce the Ka falsing, you will have an idea what was changed in alert time response.

    Is it truly low emission?
Was the frequency moved outside the Spectres receiving window?
What is the chance of Spectre upgrading to detect the STi in the future?
What is the alert time for all current police radar frequencies?
How does the sensitivity compare to an RX65?
Does any other radar detector within a few car lengths cause the STi to iqnore police radar?
What brand of detectors drives it crazy?
    What are the receiving windows?
Are the windows stable over temperature?

    So many question........currently no answers.

Am I the only one that is curious?

Will somebody step up to the plate?

If I had an STi, I would send it to you in a second, but unfortunately I don't.

For a lot of people, myself included, stealth isn't really much of an issue. However, I would be very interested in seeing the above information such as sensitivity data, response time, receiving windows etc for all of the other current detectors that have been on the market for a while. I would think that it is pretty standard practice in the industry to know where all of the other manufacturers stand.

Do you have any such data on other detectors that you would be willing to share with the group?

I remember you posted some great information before on respose time, from which we could conclude that the Cobra and RX-65 can not alert to 67ms K-Band POP, although the Whistler can. It would be great to see more of the same.
