BELTRONICS RX65 $60 used - should I go for it? - Craigslist

Some guy on craigslist is seeling a RX65 used. I am asking for more pics....but the price seems awesome, $60.

Should I go for it? Any thing I should look out for?

I asked for pics and serial number. He says that it is missing the window holder.

That's what I think too. I am going to look at pics and check serial number, but if it is for this price....well....

It's a risk, just like any online purchase. I would ask for plenty of clear pictures of the unit, especially some with the unit powered on. I don't personally buy any kind of used electronics off of the internet. There's just no way of knowing if it's in working order or not. Then again, you could come out very well on it.

Well, IM going to pick it up in person, so test then buy. I think that should get rid of some danger (except me getting kidnapped....)

Even if it powers up I would still send to Escort to get it tuned which will cost $59.99. I would just buy a $150 Escort 8500 refurb off Ebay. And you don't have to worry about getting kidnapped , LOL.

How does the 8500 stack up against this? He says he has no pics, but he gave me S/n. Is that any use to me?

Go for it at $60! Just don't get kidnapped, and test it too. Perhaps bring your own RD as a benchmark.

Bring a couple of friends with you when you go. Also check to see if the unit locks up and needs a hard restart while toggling the options. I sent one back for that issue. Research the unit's shortcomings...
