In preparation for the installation of my STi-R +, where is the optimal location to mount the radar receiver?
I have read, and seen video (IIRC it was a video of Radar Roy and Veil Guy discussing the install of a 9500ci on Veil Guy's BMW), and it was suggested that mounting the receiver behind a chromed grill (even if it was a plastic grill), would reduce the sensitivity of the RD. I think it had something to do with the chrome messing with the polarity?
They also said that radar waves basically pass right through the typical rubber that most bumper covers are made of, and on that note, they suggested mounting the receiver behind the bumper cover, in a reasonably flat area, as long as there was no metal in front of the receiver.
I will be installing mine on a CTS-V. The grill is identical to this (sorry for ths size):
What are the expert's thoughts? Behind the grill or would it be better behind the actual bumper? Thanks.
