    Default SuperWide or Narrow????

Locally here the LEO's use 34.9 GHz (Kustom Eagle) and 35.1 GHz (Decateur Genesis) for Ka band and 24.140 GHz (Gatso) for K band.

Should I use the SuperWide or Narrow option for best detection of these two frequencies?

What detector? I would say Superwide.
Generally the narrow options only sweep 34.3 GHz, some detectors have selectable freqs for the narrow options but AUS uses non-standard Ka freqs so I dont think any detector have those frequencies selectable as a narrow option.

The STI, but I'm not sure if the STi has the SuperWide/Narrow option. I read somewhere in this forum that it was a possibility that it was on the STi, but just reading another thread it was said that there is no such option.

So I'm still a little in the dark on this issue :!:

If you can put a little  on the subject I sure would appreciate it :!:

Like Jim says, no detector has those freqs in narrowband. The only narrowband Ka bands available are the 33.8GHz, 34.3GHz, 34.7GHz, and 35.5GHz. So you have to go with Superwide Ka sweep for the ones you have there.

Even if the STI did have Ka narrow (which apparently it does NOT), it still would not do you any good beacuse it would be for USA freq 33.8 34.7 35.5 and it would be blind to your countries frequency. As far as your low power units, may god help you on that one. From all the info I have heard even if you can get an alert, you are pretty close and it will be too late.

Does anyone know if the STi unit made for AU conditions (named the XR) has different software for the radars over here?

Or is the same software installed to all units (US& Intl)?

WOAH! Hold the hoarses. Did not think about that, perhaps it is different, check the box/documntation/advertisement discription and compare I think it should be readily noticable what if any differences are.

I don't have an XR to look at any differences between that and the STi, maybe one of the other forum members is clued into the subject. Someone from AU who has already purchased the XR (STi) may be able to shed some light on the matter.

What is your firmware version? I believe that the first release here in the US was A1 M7.

Here is a picture of the Bel XR

    Selling for approx AUD$1100
Would cost half that if went on a holiday to the states

Sure it is the same as the STI.

My Bel990 came from these guys and was the same as the American one but with Australia bands set (that are selectable from the option menus)
