    Default STi-R+ Alert Duration

Has anyone else noticed that the STi-R+ will keep displaying the frequency or band of the last signal it detected for a long time after the signal is gone?
My Redline consistently alerts before the STi-R+; using a stopwatch, I measured the time from when the Redline stopped alerting until the STi stopped alerting. The average of 5 times was 47 seconds (minimum of 45, maximum of 52). This was done at 5 different locations where there was only one signal present, and there were no other new signals for at least 1 mile.
If the STi picks up a new signal during this 45-50 second period, it will alert to the new one.
I'm not impressed by this "feature".

Does it keep beeping as well or does it just hold the display? If just the display, maybe to give you a chance to read it when there's a short alert.

I don't have an STi-R+ but I do have an RX65 and it holds alerts at minimum strength for several seconds even when the signal is gone (having tested with actual radar guns).

Maybe someone with a radar gun (even a Bushnell would work) and a STi-R+ can test and video.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

It should hold an alert approximately 8 seconds after the signal is gone. Great feature for those quick I/O shots.

Depending on settings the STI-R Plus it should also be more sensitive than the RedLine, therefore alerting longer as well.

8 seconds would be fine, but I'm not joking about it being 45-50 seconds. The first day out with the Sti-R I was blown away by its sensitivy...then I realized that it was not alerting any sooner when approaching radar sources, it was just alerting way, way longer after encountering the source.

Try to confirm with a radar gun, it really shouldn't be more than 8 seconds. Maybe its jut because its more sensitive.

I double checked mine last night and today with known alert areas and the moment the alert is gone the frequency is gone and it is back to showing my speed, doesn't even take two seconds

I agree with Green Radar mine doesn't seem to perform like that at all. It will alert, then as distance grows between my vehicle and the radar source it will ramp down and no longer alert.

I never have had a 45-50 second band show after the source is gone, maybe 5 seconds.

Escort detectors tend to actually alert for a longer period of time after a signal is lost in comparison to Beltronics detectors.
I think it has to do with the difference in sensitivity and maybe even the STi-R+ not being behind glass.
My STi-R has some pretty significant rear detection for being mounted on the front grille. On Ka band it usually beats my V1 in the rear...... O.o

What ever it was doing, it's not doing it any more, but to clarify what was happening (since a lot of posts mis-understood what was going on) imagine a road running north-south that's 10 miles long, and has mile markers starting at 0 and ending at 10. You are going north and encounter a signal at mile 5, and the alert ends at mile 6. You then turn around and head south, and now you get the alert starting at mile 5, and it ends at mile 4. In my case, the Redline was alerting from mile 5.0 to mile 5.2 going north, and from mile 5.2 to 5.0 when going south--exactly what you would expect. If the "long" alerts from the STi-R+ were due to sensitivity, it should have alerted from mile 4 to 6, and from 6 to 4.

But like I said, it's acting normally now.
