    Default Redline vs. STi?

I recently decided to purchase a Redline since it's the latest and greatest from Belscort and it was what I thought would be an upgrade. Not so sure after testing both. 35.5 ka the Redline seems slightly better than my STi, but nothing significant. My STi's K band detection seems much better in comparison of the two, especially with off axis K band (auto door openers as the source). The Redline seemed alarmingly quiet on K band many times when the STi was alerting strongly. I'm within the 30 days and wondering if I should return the Redline and keep my STi. Thoughts?

There could be something wrong with your Redline. My STi is owning my RL in testing I did this past week. But it wasn't always like that, so something is wrong with my RL and I am sending it in for service. Having said that, the STi is no slouch.

With a brand new RL though? My STi has always been pretty hot on K band and was pretty darn close to my V1. Unfortunately I haven't come across a real K band source to compare. I did come across lidar yesterday and the RL was the only detector that alerted.

When I first got my Redline, it didn't perform as well as I expected on K (according to familiar false sources). After about a month, I noticed an increase in performance on K.

Mine seemed to have a break in period, because after a month, it balls k band, especially off axis!

I also literally drove to the beach, put the Redline back in the case for 2 weeks and when I pulled it out, the fuzzy casing was all cracked. Cheap case for a $500 detector. My STi case has been much more rugged That's a petty gripe though.

Be sure that the RedLine and STi Driver are both in Highway mode when comparing them, especially when using sources of false alerts like automatic door opener. The RedLine should outperform the STi Driver on every radar band by a noticeable margin.

The Redline should outperform the STi Driver. You either have a Redline that needs repair or a very HOT Driver. The Driver is a very good detector and will beat most detectors.

Both have been in Highway mode, all bands on, SWS off, TSR off.

Alot of people have said that but it's not the case for me either. My STi is as good as my RL any day of the week.

I have to agree with a previous post. My Redline is definitely quicker to alert on K and Ka than my STI Driver. Again I agree with a previous post that the STI Driver is no slouch. In fact, I use it in a dually that I drive occasionally. It is the best detector that I have owned as far as sensibility. (also have a 9500ix and a V1)
