Magnum vs. Redline

Been trying to wrap my head around this. I've been reading posts, and all sorts of fOOzed

Is the Magnum supposed to be on par with the Redline?...Just a Redline in Beltronics clothing?

Read a post saying something along the lines of........old Sti + update = Redline
Magnum < Redline

Just wondering how does that work?

The RedLine is using more expensive custom LNAs (low noise amplifiers) while the STi Driver and Magnum have moved on to newer packaged LNAs. Early STi Drivers also used this custom LNA. The custom LNA has a slight performance advantage but is also more difficult to install. You pay a premium for RedLine over the STi Magnum so you are getting a slight boost for that extra money.

Sooooo thats why OLDER Drivers + Magnum firmware = REDLINE

Holy chEEzE! so they're "dumbing" down the Magnum so the Redline can have an advantage!? All the while an STi could have been a Redline, but they chose not to!?

Dude, I totally think that they did the same thing(just w/software rather than hardware) back during the ramp-up & 33.8Ka fix.

I had an a4m8 (3306<~~I believe) That utterly blew my a6m9 2108 completely outta the water! Had to send the 2108 in for a tune-up and borrowed a buddy of mines Redline. riding around town I noticed that the redline "acted" just like my old a4m8.

well the STI Driver came first (05/06) and the Redline a few years later in 08/09? So the STI Driver platform became the Redline, but they dumbed the original down =/

Same hardware between the old STI Driver and Redline using the same custom LNA's

The newer STI Drivers same hardware with different LNA's.

Magnum's performance is very close to the RedLine's. The RedLine has a slight edge due to it's different LNAs. The higher price of the RedLine reflects this.

There have always been reports of hot STi Drivers from members here. These undoubtedly have the early LNAs which now only the RedLine uses.

well if you did fry one, they would repair it as part of the upgrade i believe...

i know all units are sent through testing after upgrading before shipping out to make sure the unit works like new.

Well...since my STi has the "old" LNA's...a fried LNA would prompt Belscort to replace with the "new downgraded LNA's" <~~~no good

i'm still not quite sure if my driver from late 07 (metal hardshell box) has the custom or old LNA's but mine is certainly keeping pace with my friends 2010 redline now. Wasn't before but now it's really close or equal, the results are a bit too random to say for sure but definitely an improvement.

what year production is yours?
