V8 (v955) or rx65 pro?

im a newb on a tight budget and wondering it the rx65 will be worth the extra money. just looking for something that will get the job done and replace my old whistler xtr140. i know these to both run on the m4 platform but i dont really understand the other diffrences

I would definately recommend the RX65. it has a Ka USA mode which makes it scan radar frequencies MUCH faster, so that it can pick up instant on (IO). They are fairly common, and you can get them for a good deal second hand.

The RX65 is a great detector, you will love it. Enable it's "Ka USA mode" for the best performance against Ka radar. We use the M4 antenna only in our Beltronics and Escort/Passport detectors. It is not used in other brands of detectors.

If $300 is an issue then consider the Refurbished RX65's sold on the Bay........they are factory refurbished by Escort and come with a 6 month full warranty.

The new RX65 has the M4 horn, comes with Traffic Monitor Filtering and is compatible with Escort Live. The refurbed RX65s have the S7 horn, no TSR and cannot connect to Live.

But if all you are after is a kick a$$ radar detector, the old S7 run in USA mode will make you very happy. Many folks prefer the old S7 over the M4, myself being one.

Hmmmm........looks like the new RX65s are on back order right now anyway.

yeah they must be releasing a new / updated model soon. This happened with the x50s before black release right, they went into backorder status?

Wonder how long it will be until this is out. What would make me really happy would be for the MAGNUM to go on backorder. That would be a good sign of a much needed update on the way.
