Well, I traded my V1 last night for $80 cash and a brand new (M4) Beltronics Vector 995. So far, I'm impressed. While I'm aware the V1 is best for picking up the most/all I/O and Q/T shots that other detectors may fail to detect such short bursts of radar, this has proven to be a great device, at least in my opinion.
Last night, it picked up several Ka I/O bursts from a 1 mile radius or so. I'm not sure of the frequency as the Meter mode was set to STD (standard) and not TEC (technical), but I'm guessing it was probably 35.5 or 34.7.
Also, it seems to pick up some of the falses (ignores most) and other radar sources from just about the same distance as my V1 had (maybe a few seconds behind at most).
Anyone else here experience great results with this detector?
P.S. I miss my Valentine 1, but this detector is great and now I'm looking at buying a Magnum in the future. Beltronics... you have a new loyal customer. I can already tell this is a high performing detector. However, my concern is how well it can pick up super quick I/O radar for Ka and K band. That's where the V1 separates the boys from the men.
...If you or someone who works at your company is reading this... so Sorry, Mike. Your V1 is still a great detector, if not the currently the best, but you're getting your a$$ stomped by your competitors in the near future, if not already. Either step up your game to increase performance or get out of the way, because your notorious falses and lack of features is slowing us all down on the road.
Hey, friend. If you're reading this (and I just know you eventually will), what are your thoughts on the 995? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Thanks!
P.S.S. Back when I was a complete noob on the Whistler forums with my XTR-330 and 695, I always thought you were one of the most arrogant posters in this community. Now I realize that you actually know your stuff... and really well might I add.
