    Default RX65 S7 vs Redline

    Hey all,

So I recently started a thread about whether I should buy a Escort Redline. Well I just noticed as did others that Escort is again selling refurbished RX65s (S7) on eBay. I have seen tests where the RX65 (Ka USA MODE) picked up Ka Q/T shots better than a V1. Now the question is which one should I buy now? Theoretically isn't a RX65(S7) a better Q/T detector?

    -Thanks

The RX-65 S7 in USA mode does a few things such as turn off RDR. The end result is that it's fast...very fast. This is a plus to picking up Q/T. The Refurb S7's are also a bargain. The S7 is also good at off-axis shots (GOL tried to do a visual of that).

But make no mistake, the hairy-chested M3's are a different animal and do have the range advantage...in some cases, by a good margin.

Escort has said they are working on releasing a programming release for the Redline of RDR off and BS...these two combined could make the Redline the Q/T king (plus that M3 range)...many are hopeful...we'll just have to see.

Thanks for info on how Ka USA mode works. I currently have a v995(m4) and I wouldn't mind spending 450ish for the Redline however I wouldn't mind saving 250 and getting that RX65 S7. What would you recommend I do?

I would get the RX65 because it is 50% less than the redline and it is great at I/O. And the ramp-up ain't broke like Escort

Just ordered an RX65 S7 from Escort directly since they ran out of units on eBay. Can't wait to see how this baby doesn't against I/O and Q/T when in Ka USA mode

SO would my s7 Bel v995 be the same?? It has the option to switch KU and KA band on/off

I have owned it for 6 or 7 years, it does need service, cal7 cal3 service required

    Thanks

Your v995 S7 is a bit different than an RX65 S7 because it does not have KA USA mode. It is better than an M4 based v995 but not as good in picking up I/O & Q/T shots as a RX65 is. You can either send it in for repair, or buy a refurbished RX65 S7 like I did. I'd recommend the RX65 since KA USA mode allows the detectors to not waste time by scanning the entire Ka spectrum and instead focues on the police frequencies.
