Hello speed demons and the rest of you.... I have a Beltronics Rx 65 Pro bought back in 2008. After driving for two years in and arround NYC with my RD I have decided to turn off K band due to 100% false alerts. I have moved out of NYC area and now I am living in midwest. Driving on the I-80 in PA I got a ticket about a month ago for "speeding" with my RD Ka-on, Laser-on , K-off and RD being totally silent when facing the PSP. I strongly believe that I was caught with a K-band radar. After this unfortunate even I have decided to turn back on K-band. I was driving up and down the I-75 far from any major cities and I get K-band false alerts every half a mile. Got sick and tired of false alarms on K-band( K1, K2, K6,K9) but still the danger of getting caught speeding is there if I turn off K-band.
I have contacted Beltronics the other day and for $139.99 they are willing to install some filters to reduce K-band false alerts. The Beltronics representative informed me that it is not really worth it if nothing wrong with the detector otherwise. The range of detection and performance will be the same after the filters will be installed. Is K band still used widely? Is there any modification I can do to the RD to avoid K-band false alarms? Any other drivers that turn of K-band do to false alerts? Your input is totally welcome! Thank you all and drive safe!
