STI Magnum now not getting falses in my area that my Redline is
Just got my STI Magnum back from service again and notice that it is no longer picking up falses that I used to pick up in certain areas.
My Redline is still picking up 24.170, 24.176, and 24.203 but now my STI Magnum no longer does.
It still picks up other known K band falses though. I verified that my Redline still picks these up as well. Also noticing that the detector intermittently loses power and then reboots itself. I have tried it in 2 of my vehicles so I know it is the detector.
What could this be?
Thanks

Redline is more sensitive but still sounds like you might need to send it back for repair. Is it just the higher K band freqs or weaker ones? Get closer to source and see if you get an alert. It might not be as good at off axis as the Redline and not picking them up. Power issues are not good, play with the cord in sockets to be sure.

X2! Sounds maybe like the unit was not fully repaired and is weaker. Make sure what TD stated. Then call and sent it back if not fully operational...

Sent off for repair.
I hope it doesn't come back as unrepaired. I am really tired of it.

Well it came back saying that the software was updated (really strange because it comes back every time saying that and as far as I know there really aren't any software updates). Also received a notice back advising me not to test the 2 detectors together...this was after I got of the phone with their rep saying that the STI Magnum and Redlines are the only ones capable of doing that without incident.
I also let them know that I tried the detectors individually at the same spot without even having the other one in the vehicle. That fell on deaf ears.
It says that they repaired the power supply. So far no cutting off....but who knows? Still, the Magnum used to pick up the same signal at the same top of a hill that the redline did now it takes another 3/4 mile to detect the same signal. (It is hard to tell where the signal is coming from but the signal starts once I leave a rural area and head into suburbia).

Most repair jobs info is bs for they have to write something to shutup the customer and to make them believe in something, time is money. I've had mangement tell me to make up parts to charge to cover the cost on a lenghtly repair so they will make money, I did not, for it is done all the time. When a RD is new, it is normally hot, but after time, it will/can dumb down due to several things. Sell it! For if your not happy with the units performance, you never will be, it is just not the same as before. But let the new owner know about the slight down grade in performance.....

Thanks for your thoughts. Really wish that they would take care of their stuff. If I could just talk to a human being in power over there I think things would be better, but alas they won't let me talk to a technician. It is getting to the point where I may invoke Visa's warranty on it and contact an attorney. Maybe they will fix it then.

Are you running both detectors in Highway mode? Auto mode will reduce X and K band false alerts. RedLine also has slightly better performance than the Magnum which may be what you are noticing. Send me a private message with your name and address, or a previous RMA#, if you want us to look at it again.
