Exclamation STiR+ Update Problem - Help!

So my old laptop finally gave out and I bought a new high speed replacement laptop. Problem is when i try to update my STiR+ it wont connect!

The 1st message I get is: "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" When i look up Device Status i get this message: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 45)".

I tried 3 different USB cables and both the USB 2 & USB 3 ports, still no luck. Anyone have this problem? Any advice? Any Fix?

Nothing specific from my end so I would suggest the following general attempts:

    1) Confirm BIOS settings for USB ports.
    2) Reinstall driver
    3) Check for OS updates/hot fixes
    4) Disable any real time virus security suite temporarily
    5) Consider detector fault

Thanks for the input Veil Guy. I updated drivers, bios, everything i could think of but still no fix. Your last comment had me worried so i had a friend come over and tried to update the detector with her laptop...success! So at least I know the detector is working. So, i'm not sure whats wrong with my laptop.

All, that said, I found a solution but not a fix. When were were working on the 2 laptops, I happened to have a USB hub attached to mine and without thinking plugged the STiR into it....it worked! So for now i guess i'll be updating thru the hub and not directly plugged into the laptop. I have no idea why its working this way...but for now, its working. Anyone have an answer for the connection working thru a hub and not direct?

I have found updating the stir+ to be hit and miss. Same laptop sometimes it works some times it locks up.

Try a factor reset on the detector then upload the firmware and the rest. Sometimes there are kinks on escorts site.
