from roy last friday, been used it all wkend and monday..i drive 80 miles round trip everyday to work...i am not sure if rd working or not..twice my rd beep close to 300 ft to cop.. why it take so last min ...

i have seen highway patrol few times every day but nothing show on my rd...i wonder is it defective or what...should i take it to bel and have it test..who should i contact about it?..i need help..thank you leland

Was the LEO possibly using Instant On Radar ?

You weren't going fast enough! If the cops are using instant on radar, they may not even turn it on unless they see someone obviously drving way over the speed limit. Eventually you will run into a situation where they are clocking speeders 1 or 2 miles in front of you, then you will get a better idea of its capabilities.

Drive about 15-20 over the speed limit, and I guarantee you will run into an instant on radar trap.

If you live in the US turn KU off and turn KA to USA mode. This will really help out on KA band. If no X is around shut that band off too. Let me know if you need some help

Call Bel and ask, the manual does not explain squat. So all your going to get here is best guess.

You can think of Autoscan as listening to the amount of "noise" in the area, if your in a urban area, it will increase the threashold as to when it will go off, if your on the highway and in a rural area it will increase it sensitivity. Over all my experience with Autoscan proves to be very intelligent, it will still give you an alert with time to slow, if you want no filtering, maximum sensitivity, then use Highway mode. The difference between the two is just a few seconds, but at very fast driving speed thats alot of distance. Think about it.

As to the original poster, just FYI, NOT all crusiers have radar guns, and of those that due, it may be turned off, and if it is ON, then they may use InstantOn.

Its not a cop detector. It is a radar detector.

Autoscan, at least on mine, only works with the X band. Doesn't affect the K or Ka bands.

This my manual for the older Vector 985, note that the rx65 has been changed, and thus nobody is quite sure what has been done.

Yep, that is one of the older ones, they don't do that now. It is just X band. Someone correct me if I am totally wrong.
